The word FAILURE, and any derivatives thereof, is one of them.
This word holds so many of us back from trying anything new or taking risks.
Itβs said that Thomas Edison went through 1999 different variations of a light bulb before he hit on the variation that worked.Β
I wonder where weβd be today if he hadnβt been so persistent?
He wasnβt afraid of failure. He saw each attempt as feedback.
Why is failure such a big issue?
Because the word failure brings up many emotions and past situations.
Β Embarrassment
Β Humiliation
Β Looking bad
Β Being laughed at.
If you stood up in class and got a question wrong and the class laughed at you or the teacher scolded you, why would you ever risk putting yourself in that situation again.Β
The thought of failure stops you doing so many thingsβ¦
Β It kills your dreams.
Β It stops you growing.
Β You miss out on the full enjoyment of life.
Β It causes frustration and regret.
Β You lose your confidence.
But if instead we got comfortable with reframing failure, it could instead be seen as:
Β Itβs all feedback.
Β Making mistakes is part of life.
Β What can I learn from this?
Β If I donβt try, Iβll never knowβ¦
And when you do try new thingsβ¦
Β You grow as a person.
Β You feel fulfilled.
Β You feel happier and more confident.
Confidence has many guises which is why itβs covered in a holistic way in my 12 wk programme, Guilt-free Authentic Fulfilment.Β
